This year, for the first time, the chairs of governors and headteachers at the four schools in Braintree and Coggeshall agreed to issue a joint press release about GCSE results. This decision indicates our shared commitment to work together to secure the best possible outcomes for all the students in our area. You may have seen parts of this press release in local papers this week and the full text is reproduced below. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the students and staff at Notley High School and in our three local partnership schools on these excellent GCSE results.

The new term begins at 8.40am on Thursday 2 September for ALL students.

We hope that you are having a restful summer and look forward to meeting the new year 7's and welcoming back years 8, 9, 10 and 11.

GCSE Exam results are available Tuesday 24 August from 10.30am and we hope all our students receive the grades that they worked so hard for.

Cheque presentation to Little Haven’s Hospice 22/6/2010

Last week we were delighted that Head girl Bethany Mill and Deputy Head boy Alex Stewart were able to donate a cheque for £911.50 to Leanne Overett from Little Haven’s Hospice.  The money was raised during the most recent non uniform day.  

Little Havens Children's Hospice provides respite breaks, symptom control and end-of-life care for youngsters living with serious conditions and who are not expected to reach adulthood. It aims to make their journey - and that of the family - as comfortable as possible, creating special memories along the way.

Guardian School Trip 9/6/2010

On Friday 28^th May, selected students in top-set English were given the opportunity to visit the Guardian News and Media Education Centre in London. The trip saw students take on the role as journalists to report on fresh news stories and create professional looking newspapers. The trip has been highly praised by students for the excellent facilities and resources provided by the Guardian.

Those participating in the session had to work to a schedule like a real journalist, and were given a talk about journalistic techniques before tackling the behemoth of a task. It was also led expertly by Jan Trott who gave useful tips and hints of how to... (Read More)
