This week we celebrated the success of all our 2013 Jack Petchey winners at the eagerly awaited annual presentation evening.
This prestigious event was very well attended with students from Edith Borthwick School, Southview School, Honeywood Community Science College, Maltings Academy, Alec Hunter Academy, Ramsey Academy, Hedingham School, Tabor Academy, The College at Braintree and New Rickstones Academy as well as our own school.
The evening was opened with a welcome and introduction from Chairman of Braintree Council, Cllr Wendy Scattergood and the award ceremony itself was hosted by Philip Allinson, who did a great job of rousing the audience into applauding and celebrating the success of all the young people as they went up to receive their award. We enjoyed the performances from representatives of different schools who did well to perform in front of a large audience, including our own Emily Knight who delighted us with her dance. It was so lovely to hear about the great things the young people from across the district have achieved and see them collect their winners’ medallion, receiving the recognition they deserve in front of family, friends and their peers. We really are proud of the contribution our students have made to the school and the beyond.

We are starting our new year of awards and we would encourage you to nominate students you think deserve the award using the forms in school or on the school website at http://www.notleyhigh.com/rewards-and-awards/jack-petchey-award-scheme . Boxes to post the forms can be found in the main school library and at the campus reception; alternatively, pass them to Mrs Wallace the school co-ordinator.

Young people selected should be those who have gone above and beyond, and achieved – perhaps where others thought they might fail. Winning an Achievement Award should mean different things for different people – it may represent a personal triumph against adversity, it may recognise a young person who has pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone, it may be the opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of a team player who always puts others first.
