Uniform Policy
The wearing of full school uniform is expected as an integral part of the school ethos which promotes positive attitudes, high standards and a sense of personal pride. In our view for a School Uniform to be a successful it must be:
1. UNIFORM and not open to various interpretations
2. DISTINCTIVE and SMART.
3. EASILY and READILY AVAILABLE
4. REASONABLY PRICED
Students are expected to wear the school uniform as listed.

Girls Years 7 – 11
- Black blazer.
- School badge attached to the blazer* (badge is embroidered with year colour and school logo). Badges may be purchased separately and attached to the blazer or bought already attached to the blazer.
- Long sleeved ‘V’ neck black pullover. School logo preferred.*
- Plain black skirt, knee length without splits. Logo on waistband preferred* .
- Plain black tailored trousers, (not denim, cord, lycra material or hipster style). Logo on waistband preferred.* The trouser must have a hem and not be frayed or have a wide bottom.
- White blouse:
- Years 7 – 9 White shirt-type blouse with plain, undecorated collar (not polo or lycra style).
- Years 10 – 11 White revere collar blouse with school logo (to be worn tucked into the skirt/trousers). When wearing this blouse the tie will not be required. School logo preferred.*
- Plain white socks or tights in black or natural/skin tone.
- Plain black leather or ‘leather look’ shoes (not open toe design or trainers, no stilettos or sling backs, heels not greater than 4 cm).
- Tie*:
- Years 7 – 9 Lower School Tie – green stripe
- Years 10 – 11 Upper School Tie – black stripe (not required if wearing revere collar blouse).
- When wearing a tie, the top button must be fastened and the tie knot placed at the collar of the shirt.
Protective Clothing – Craft Apron and an old shirt for Art.
Outdoor coats - Most forms of sensible outdoor coats (preferably dark in colour) are acceptable. Casual leisurewear is not regarded as suitable for school. Sweatshirts of any description do not qualify as coats or sweaters and are not acceptable.
Boys Years 7 – 11

- Jewellery and badges may not be worn. One wrist watch is acceptable. Students with pierced ears will be allowed to wear two plain gold/silver small studs or small sleepers, one in each ear. Diamante, crystals, gemstones or other decorative styles are not acceptable. Plain gold or silver sleepers must be small enough to not allow a 5p piece to pass through them (a maximum of one per ear). The stud/sleeper is to be placed in the earlobe. Nose studs or other jewellery are not allowed.
- Fashions evolve over time and we remain aware of changes in trends but a ‘Number 1’ or shorter haircut is not permitted.
- Hair which has been dyed or streaked with unnatural colours or unnatural combinations is also not acceptable as are styles where lines and/or shapes are cut into the hair, often but not always, around the sides of the head.
- Hair extensions are not permitted
- Trainers are only allowed if accompanied by a Doctor’s note.
- All clothes and equipment should be clearly marked with the student's name and tutor group
- Lost property is to be handed in to the school office where it is to be held for one week. Once a term a display of lost property will be held for student’s perusal; items not claimed at this time will be put up for sale.
- Students must wear the specified school uniform. Any problems will be communicated to the home by standard letter. We expect parents to send a note, if their child is out of uniform, which will be dealt with by the tutor.
- Students in Years 7-9 are not allowed make-up. Year 10 may wear discreet make-up. Nail varnish or false nails is not allowed for any year group

Items with a logo are preferred but alternatives are acceptable if they are of a similar style.
We would point out to all parents that the one item of dress which has caused the biggest number of headaches is shoes. Please would parents insist on proper black leather or leather look shoes and not trainers. The Health Council would fully support this as well!
