The Flexible Learning Provision at Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form works to make it possible for every student to participate in mainstream education and to achieve their academic and personal best. This provision incorporates 20 places for students with statements/EHCPs primarily for speech, language and communication needs, whose additional funding supports specialist teaching and a speech and language therapist as well as specialist learning mentors.
Students are individuals and so may be offered direct and/or indirect support according to their needs to enable them to learn with greater independence and to manage the transitions toward becoming an independent adult. Quality first teaching vital in enabling students to learn. In some cases students will also be supported by learning mentors in some lessons or may have small group interventions led by learning mentors or teaching staff.
All students are members of a vertical tutor group with students from each year group and this time is sometimes used for older students to mentor and support younger students’ learning and achievement.
