ECT Support

ECT Support

All of our Early Career Teachers at Notley High School participate in the Early Career Professional Development Programme. This is a package of training and guidance designed to enhance the ECT’s 2-year induction period and help them to further develop their skills in their new career. We work with Teach First, a provider appointed by the DFE who offer high quality professional development. ECT’s work through one module per half term through a combination of self-directed study, attending seminars and regular timetabled mentor meetings.

All ECTs are allocated a mentor who play a key role in supporting their progress and development throughout their induction period. Mentors, like ECT’s are fully supported in their role by Teach First and use the principles of Instructional Coaching; a strongly evidenced model of support for improving teacher practice.  Mentors have access to high quality CPD materials and attend online seminars each half term to ensure they are fully equipped to undertake the role.
