Happy Birthday to Ken

As part of Parks Assembly this morning we were delighted to celebrate Mr Ken Coe’s 80th birthday. Ken has been part of the school’s cleaning team for 10 years and in that time has become a much loved and respected member of the school community.

Hamlet in West Africa!

On Thursday 8 March, the entire cohort of Year 13 English Literature students were fortunate enough to be able to see a very limited run of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of ‘Hamlet’ at the Hackney Empire, directed by Simon Godwin.

Marty Patten - Jack Petchey Award Winner January 2018

Marty was nominated for the Jack Petchey award by his peers, for being a hard-working, intelligent, optimistic and cheerful person, who is always up for a laugh and always gets involved despite his visual impairment (Marty is registered blind).

Science Talk by Daniel Ranson

On Monday 15 Jan 2018, an ex-Notley pupil who is now studying for a PhD in neuropharmacology in London, came back to school to give a talk to an invited audience of Year 11, 12 and 13 students and staff in the Theatre.

Midwife Visit

This morning, Year 10 Child Development students were given the fantastic opportunity to hear from two midwives, Claire Hooks and Sara Smith, from Anglia Ruskin University. 

Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge 2018

On Friday 2 and Friday 9 March, over forty Year 10 students took part in this year’s Jack Petchey Speak Out Speak Up Challenge - a training programme, organised by Speakers Trust, designed to develop the public speaking and communication skills of Key Stage 4 learners. 

Foreign Languages Spelling Bee

On Monday 5 February, twenty Year 7 students took part in the second stage of the Foreign Languages Spelling Bee. The students had been given 100 French or Spanish words to learn and had to spell words selected at random using the French or Spanish alphabet.
