42% A*-B grades at Braintree Sixth Form

Students and staff at Braintree Sixth Form are celebrating a 100% pass rate across all A level and International Baccalaureate subjects with 42% of A level students gaining top grades.

Among the top A level achievers are Oliver Kiernowski and Jake Turley. Ollie's impressive A*A*AA at A2 was supplemented by an A* in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and an A in AS Further Maths and gains him a place at Imperial College London to read Physics. Jake had already secured an unconditional offer from Bristol University to read Maths, a decision that was affirmed by his A*A*A* performance at A level. Lucy McNair will also be taking up an unconditional offer, to read Law at UEA but her A*AAA performance should leave them in no doubt of her abilities. She will be joined at UEA by her friend, Louise Lazell whose triple A grades, coupled with an A* in EPQ gains her a place to read English Literature whilst future architect James Cook's A* in Art helped secure his place at University College London. Saskia Woolgrove's dreams of studying Medicine have been realised as her AAA performance gains her a place at UEA. Other notable performances include Emily Norman, with A*AA and A* in EPQ; Alice Fraser, whose A*AA secures her place on the highly competitive English and American Literature course at University of Kent and Matthew Rawlings who will be taking up a place at University of Exeter to read Economics having also achieved A*AA at A level.

International Baccalaureate students gained an average point score of 30, well in excess of international averages. Top performer Kirsty Reynolds achieved a score of 36 which is worth more UCAS points than 4 A* grades at A level. Kirsty is looking forward to taking up her unconditional place at Royal Holloway to read Psychology. Other high scoring IB students include Daisy Longden, who will be studying Fashion Communications and Promotion at Nottingham Trent University and Ross Turner who has gained a place at University of Reading to read Psychological Theory and Practice.

Co-Directors of Sixth Form, Sarah Steadman and Kate Stubbs are thrilled with the results, 'We are delighted to see so many of our students achieving academic success. There are many students gaining A*-B grades and high IB scores, which is testament to their hard work and the support of parents and staff. It is very pleasing to see so many students continuing their educational journeys at top universities.' They are both looking forward to welcoming a new group of Year 12 students to Braintree Sixth Form ' enrolment will take place from 9am on 20th August.
