On Saturday 20 November 2010, Notley High School was host to four TANGO master classes in English, Science and Technology.  The TANGO (Tabor, Alec, Notley Gifted Organisation) partnership aims to provide extension and enrichment activities for able and talented students in both primary and secondary schools within the Braintree area.

  • Year 9 students attended the English master class and looked at newspaper articles, identifying features, looking at the difference between tabloids and broadsheets.  They became reporters and wrote articles for their newspaper.
  • Year 9 students attended the Science master class ‘Bang Goes Science’ and were trained to carry out a range of experiments.
  • Year 7 students attended the Food Technology master class and created some wonderful Greek dishes to enjoy.
  • Year 8 students attended the Textiles master class and created a wall hanging with decorative techniques.
Martin Higgon, Assistant Headteacher, Notley High School oversaw the morning’s events and reported that ‘it was wonderful to see such highly motivated and capable students working together from the three Braintree schools, developing their knowledge, confidence and independence through our educational partnership."
