Katy Dadd – Jack Petchey Winner September 2019
Nominated by a member of staff: Katy is an ice hockey player who has been selected for the England under 13 ice hockey squad.
She plays for four ice hockey teams including Chelmsford, England and the South East and travels to Sheffield at weekends to train. She recently played for England in a European ice hockey event in Belgium. Katy played 9 matches across the weekend including against all boy teams.
Katy’s coach has also supported the nomination: Katy is one of our most experienced defensive players for the Chelmsford u13s team. She captained our u13s B team last year and this year she was given the role of Alternate Captain for our A division team. She has worked very hard and had many personal successes this season, including being selected for the u13s South East Conference team who took part in the 25th Anniversary Conference Tournament which included all the top players in the country.
Katy was also part of the u13 England Girls’ team who returned from a tournament in Belgium with a bronze medal. Plus, this year she had one of the highest honours by pulling on a GB shirt to take part in this year’s UK Global Girls Game which was an event to showcase some of the brightest young prospects from the GB women's ice hockey programme. As you can see this has been a very eventful year for Katy and one she should be proud of and I am sure she will remember for some time. Her coaches are proud of her as I am sure her parents are too. Well done.
