Notley High School hosted a whopper of a week for Sport Relief. The Charities Committee, made up of students from across the school, organised activities to help raise funds for young people across the world.

Sport Relief is a charity that focuses primarily on helping those young people that have been affected by abuse or a lack of means to access basic life skills and an education. Students worked hard behind the scenes to make sure everything was ready to go on Monday 17 March as they had decided to spend a week fundraising for this worthwhile cause.

Official Sport Relief wristbands and badges were available for purchase and we sold out on the first day! We also had a ‘Name the teddy’ and ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ game where staff and students were able to donate a small amount to be in the running to win the prizes. In the end, Chris Petre from Year 8 won the teddy as he correctly guessed the name to be ‘TED’. And Mr Jonathan Fuller won the cake as he was most accurate with his estimation.

We also had ‘Staff in the Stocks’ on Thursday 20 March – Mr De Gea, Mr Bastor, Miss Rabbhi and Mrs Hayward all volunteered to be hit with wet sponges. The students did themselves proud with their aim and awesome throws. Finally, on Friday, we had our ever popular bake sale, which saw the corridors swamped with staff and students. This always goes down a treat. And at lunchtime, we had the fun run in aid of Sport Relief, where staff and students dressed up and ran the lap to raise much needed funds. It was a fantastic week, with so much enthusiasm with all those involved. The students were fantastic in how they really got behind the spirit of the cause, and did themselves proud.

We have raised £2,409.17 for Sport Relief! All credit goes to the staff and students for being generous as always. Many thanks to all those involved.
