On Saturday 29 April, Year 6 able and talented children were invited to take part in two masterclasses at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form.

We had two activities. The first led by Mr Bridgwater, looked at electricity and circuits. Children learnt the correct way to set up circuits and how to measure current and voltage. They also considered the difference between series and parallel circuits, how current and voltage differ in components in series and parallel circuits and how voltage affects the brightness of a bulb.

The second session, led by Mrs Roper, focussed on textiles. Children developed their creative skills, having the opportunity to be a fashion designer for the morning. They designed and customised their own T-shirt using fabric paints and other embellishments. Children were given the opportunity to learn different sewing and decorative techniques.

Well done to all Year 6 children that attended, it was great to have so many of you with us. We hope that it gave you a good idea of what life is like at a secondary school and what awaits you in Year 7!
