On Thursday 28 February 2019, the school once again became host to the visiting Colchester Food Roadshow, where our Year 10 Food students witnessed chef Martin Fordham demonstrate some of the more complex skills needed to deliver high quality dishes to restaurant customers.

This is what some of our students had to say about the experience:-

“During Martin’s visit, I learned lots of things like how to cut up a chicken successfully with no wastage.” Mollie Marshall

“The visit was incredibly interesting and full of very useful information. Seeing the whole chicken and salmon cut and prepared (jointing and filleting) was very good to watch, and has given me new knowledge on more complex cooking skills. We also got to taste food prepared by chef Martin, which was incredibly tasty and well prepared. Overall, it was a fun and interesting experience, and it has provided me with plenty of useful information”

"I really enjoyed Martin Fordham’s visit to school as I found it very interesting! I particularly enjoyed when he cut up the salmon although it didn’t really smell nice. It was really interesting as I had never seen a whole salmon cut up before, I had no idea the inside was actually orange and there were so many bones. At the end of the lessons we also got to eat food- this was very nice!” Jessica Long
